Activities Schedule ~ Spring into  Summer 2008
CUUPS Board Meetings

Rainbow Chalice CUUPS holds a Board Meeting the first Tuesday of every month. All meetings are held at SVUUS, usually in the Jr. High School YRUU Room. A closed session for Board members is held from 7-8 PM, and an open session which anyone is free to attend is held from 8-9 PM. Following are the dates of the Board meetings for the Late Spring Season

CUUPS Pancake Breakfasts

Come and join us with your family on the second Sunday of every month after church services, for a full-service cooked breakfast, consisting of pancakes, eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, oatmeal  and all the fixin's . At $5.00 per person and $10.00 per family, it's the best deal in town. Here are dates for upcoming breakfasts.

CUUPS Dark Moon Drumming

The Dark Moon Drummers Guild is an open Drum Circle which has been a monthly Rainbow Chalice CUUPS activity since August 2003.  We meet to "drum up the moon" on the evening of the Dark Moon every month, and also take advantage of opportunities to drum for events in the local community. All who are interested in drumming, drum energy, the lore and legend of drumming, sacred dance and trance work, or just want to get together and make a joyful noise, are welcome to DMD. Here are the dates for upcoming sessions. Each Dark Moon Drumming is held beginning at 7 PM at South Valley. Note that these take place on the evening of the Dark Moon, NOT on a regular day of the week or month.

CUUPS and SVUUS

Rainbow Chalice CUUPS was founded at South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society in July of 2002, and now is an integral part of the South Valley community, very involved in congregational life. Members of CUUPS serve on the Worship Committee, in REGAL and YRUU, sing in the Choir and serve on various other committees. In addition, CUUPS offers some special activities to afford a "taste of Paganism" to our Church home. Here is some information about upcoming activities:

Adult RE, "Cakes For The Queen Of Heaven" beginning late Spring. Date TBA

CUUPS and the Community

Rainbow Chalice CUUPS is a resource for seekers in the Wasatch Area who are looking for Pagan activities, as well as being involved with the Interfaith, GLBT, and other communities in the area. Below are the dates of events and activities in which members of Rainbow Chalice CUUPS will participate. 

Saturday, May 3: Earth Awakenings Festival, West Valley City. Our guest, Paul Mercer, will be a featured performer at this event.

Saturday, May 10: Aspen Grove Beltaine: Please check the Aspen Grove Web Site or the Utah Pagans Calendar for details . This ritual is to be held at Creekside Park, 4800 South 1664 East, at 4 PM.

Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8: Utah Pride Interfaith Service and  Parade. We will participate in the Interfaith Service at 2 PM on Saturday, and will be marching in the SVUUS Contingent in the Pride Parade on Sunday. Stay tuned for details

December 28: "I Resolve...To Buy A Smaller Turkey Next Year?"...Leftovers Potluck and discussion of New Year's Resolutions.

January 25: "Its' All In The Cards" An evening of sharing Divination tools. 

Activities Report Summer/Fall 2007 

July 27: CUUPS Wine & Cheese tasting and a showing of the History Channel Movie "Witches", with discussion to follow.

August 31: Coffee CUUPS social and a discussion on "What is a Shaman" taken from the works of Michael Harner and Joseph Bearwalker Wilson.

September 22: CUUPS  All-A-Dollar and Coffee CUUPS Booth, as well as Dark Moon Drummers Circle and Workshop ant Salt Lake Pagan Pride Day 2007

September 28: Christopher Penczak's Workshop, "Shamanic Witchcraft". 

Christopher Penczak took Salt Lake City by storm, and our Workshops and other activities were very successful. He actually said this was the most relaxing visit he had ever had to any area in order to present workshops.

October 27:CUUPS created the Ancestor Altar, did divination and hosted the "Guess The Weight of the Pumpkin" contest at the REGAL All-Hallows Carnival.
 

Activities Report, Late Winter/Spring 2006~2007
Saturday, March 24: SunStave Oestare: CUUPS Co-Hosted Oestare with our friend Cougar Burleigh. The ritual was held at  SVUUS and featured diverse traditions and observances.
Sunday, April 1: "The Sacred Fool:" Sunday service at SVUUS focused on the Fool Card in the  Tarot. Mini-readings offered after the service during coffee hour.
Sunday, April 8: CUUPS Pancake Breakfast: 11:45 SVUUS, right after the service. 
Sunday, April 15: Paganism 101 Class: SVUUS, 12 noon to 2 PM.
Sunday, April 22: Earth Day Jam: Some of the members of CUUPS  celebrated Earth Day by attending the Liberty Park Drum Circle. .
Sunday, April 27: The Bardic Bealteine Bash: The Traveling Electric Bard, Ashe MacFionn,  presented a workshop, trance dance and overnight ritual at SVUUS beginning at 7 PM on Friday and lasting until 9 AM on Saturday morning. Workshop, trance dance, breakfast. Approximately sixty attendees, and a great time was had by all.
Sunday, May 13: Mother's Day Breakfast and Newcomer Gathering: RCCUUPS hosted SVUUS' Newcomer gathering at a complementary Pancake Breakfast, and also offered special Belgian Waffles and omelets in honor of Mom.
Thursday, May 31: SL Pride Interfaith Service: The Dark Moon Drummers participated in our third Annual Pride Interfaith Service. CUUPS members also did readings.
Sunday, June 3rd: CUUPS members marched with the SVUUS contingent in the Salt Lake Pride Parade. Our fifth year!!

Activities Report, Autumn/Winter 2006~2007

Sunday, October 1st & Sunday November 5th:  Facilitator Anna Stesia conducted a discussion presenting material on "How Do We Die?" The November meeting included a ritual observance  in honor of the Day of the Dead. 
Sunday, December 3rd: Facilitator Aisling  conducted a workshop, ritual and Yule party, focused on the concept: "The Real Meaning of Santa Claus." 
December 20 ~ Winternight Event...We drummed up the moon and the sun at the same time, ot the Winternite Ritual Chez Goat. A great time was had by all in attendance!
Sunday, January 7th: First meeting of Paganism 101 mini-class. Class was set to continue on the second and fourth Sundays of the month for an indefinite period of time. This event is still ongoing.
Saturday, February 3rd: Aisling represented CUUPS as a member of the SLC Pride Interfaith Coalition by giving the Invocation at the Winterpride Interfaith Service at First Baptist Church.
Second Sunday Pancake Breakfasts: We have continued with this ongoing fundraiser, and it is still well-received by all who attend. Still ongoing.


Activities Report, Fall 2006

Pagan Pride Day 2006: Rainbow Chalice CUUPs participated in Salt Lake CIty's fifth annual Pagan Pride Day by hosting the snacks and coffee booth known as "Coffee CUUPS" for the third consecutive year, and facilitating two workshops, one on UU Paganism and one on drumming. The Dark Moon Drummers also participated in the main ritual. Our workshops were both well-attended, and our food sales brought us in a net profit of $185.00 which will be placed toward the expenses of Christopher Penczack's planned visit to our Chapter next Fall.
The Annual Greenwitch: Members of Rainbow Chalice participated in the Annual Greenwitch, a privately hosted Mabon experience, for the sixth consecutive year. Camping, ritual. guising, and a profoundly relevant interaction with Nature Herself are features of this experience.  We will certainly be doing this again! 
Sun Stave Mabon/Full Moon of Vine: For the third consecutive year, CUUPS facilitated the brewing of a community mead at the Vine Moon, this time also as the SunStave celebration of the Autumn Equinox. This year's brew is a mixed fruit melomel on a clover honey must, Pictures and regular progress notes on the brew are available here.
Pancakes Galore: Rainbow Chalice CUUPS is hosted at South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society (SVUUS). Every month from May through August, CUUPS served a monthly Pancake Breakfast to the congregation. The money earned is also going into the Christopher Penczac fund.
Dark Moon Drumming: Our monthly drum circle is flourishing, with new attendees every month. Visit the DMD page to see what is new in this regard.
Monthly Meeting Schedule: Rainbow Chalice CUUPS meets the first Sunday of the month, at 2 PM at SVUUS in the Senior High School YRUU room.  See below for the content and activities of upcoming meetings.

Rainbow Chalice CUUPS 
Mission Statement

WHEREAS: South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society embraces the Sixth Source: "Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.", and;

WHEREAS: Paganism of many varieties, including but not limited to Wicca, Witchcraft, Druidry, Shamanism, Goddess Worship, First Nation, and other earth-centered traditions, has been active in Salt Lake City since at least 1980, in support and sustenance of the abovementioned harmony and in maintenance of the Sacred Circle of Life; and 

WHEREAS: There is a significant number of individuals in the Salt Lake area who have no access to small-group resources for learning, sharing, support, spiritual care and counseling upon their personal journeys of earth-centered spirituality; and

WHEREAS: The Pagan Community in the Salt Lake City area includes many individuals who are desirous of an ongoing, regular congregational support system on their spiritual journeys;

Therefore be it resolved:  In accordance with the principles and practices of the UUA, that the Chalice of the Rainbow Flame Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans be formed by the conjoined Mind and Will of all those here present, and that it have as its primary mission:
    ~ to be a source of community, teaching, learning, celebration, ministry and worship;
    ~ to assist in educating and informing those interested in Earth-Centered Spirituality or Unitarian Universalism;
    ~ to function as a resource for interfaith outreach and community-building;
    ~ to continue and perpetuate the ideal of "intentional diversity" by outreach to the interfaith community and other alternative communities of Spirit.

Resolved this 16th day of July in the year 2002 CE.
Reaffirmed April 29th, 2004 CE, by the 2004-2005 CRF Board

The Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans is an organization open to anyone who identifies as Pagan and wishes to have the support of, and interaction with, a Church community. The mission statement of CUUPS states that it exists to promote interfaith dialogue, network between UU Pagans and their wider Pagan communities, and be a means of religious education concerning Paganism.
